Frequently Asked Questions

1. Head to http://etherealmenu.cn/ and register an account. Use a password without special characters.
2. Go to Account settings > Account upgrade.
3. Paste your key into the purchase field and press Purchase to redeem it.
4. Back on the main page, the Ethereal App download section will now be visible.
5. Turn off Windows Defender or any other antivirus before downloading, otherwise it will delete the loader.
6. Download the .zip file and read the installation guide.txt inside it before installing. Don’t skip it, most issues on this page come from skipped steps in that guide.

GTA V Enhanced:

Before anything: disable Secure Boot in your BIOS (Microsoft’s guide), and keep your antivirus and Core Isolation (Windows Security > Device security > Memory integrity) fully off.

1. Start GTA V Enhanced with BattlEye enabled. Do not open the Ethereal app yet.
2. Wait until you reach the main screen where you choose Story Mode or Online, and stay there.
3. Now open the Ethereal app and press Start.
4. Wait until it’s fully loaded, then go into Story Mode.

If you open the app before reaching the main screen you’ll get an “engine not online” error. Close everything and redo the steps in order.

GTA V Legacy:

1. In your launcher, make sure BattlEye is enabled.
2. Start GTA V Legacy and load into Story Mode.
3. Once loaded in, open the Ethereal app and press Start.

Ethereal supports both GTA V Enhanced and GTA V Legacy, and the app needs to know which one you’re playing:

1. Click the controller icon in the app and select your version. The selected one is highlighted with a darker glow.
2. Click the ? icon, browse to your GTA V install folder, and select PlayGTAV.exe.
3. The version selected in the app must match the game you launch, or injection will fail.

Two usual causes:

1. The required Microsoft runtime files (.NET) aren’t installed. The installation guide in your .zip has the direct download links.
2. Step 9 of the installation guide wasn’t done properly. Go back and repeat it exactly as written.

If you’ve done both and it still won’t start, open a verification-support ticket.

• A crash on activation is almost always one thing: Step 9 of the installation guide wasn’t completed properly. Review it and follow it exactly, it’s critical for stability.

Usually corrupted .NET files, corrupted Windows files, or the Terms of Service not being accepted. Do a clean reinstall:

1. Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Ethereal Engine and uninstall it.
2. Reinstall the Microsoft files fresh: .NET 6.0 Runtime (choose the x64 runtime) and .NET Framework 4.8.
3. Run the original Ethereal installer again.
4. When the app opens, accept the Terms of Service.

The app’s connection to its servers is delayed:

1. Check that Step 9 of the installation guide is done.
2. Using a VPN? Try a different server or turn it off.
3. Switch to a different application server inside the app, the option is under the Home button.

Ethereal HWID mismatch: you can reset this yourself. Log in to your account on the Ethereal forum, scroll down to HWID Reset, and click it. Resets are limited per month.

Ethereal Engine HWID mismatch: this one can’t be self-reset, open a verification-support ticket.

This appears in two cases:

1. You’re trying to run Ethereal on a virtual machine, which isn’t supported.
2. Your Windows install is corrupted and can’t provide a hardware identification. A fresh Windows install is the fix.

1. In the Ethereal app, click the ? icon.
2. Browse to your GTA V installation folder and select PlayGTAV.exe (same file for Enhanced and Legacy).
3. Then inject following the steps for your version (see “How do I inject?” above).

Your system clock isn’t synced:

1. Go to Windows Settings > Time & Language > Date & time.
2. Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically, or hit Sync now.
3. Fully close and restart the Ethereal app.

This usually appears when playing with BattlEye OFF. It means your antivirus deleted a required DLL.

Playing with BattlEye off requires downloading the FSL DLL yourself, so make sure your antivirus is disabled (or has an exception folder set up) before downloading it. After adding the DLL, refresh your files in the Ethereal app settings.
